Full Tuition LEG International Talent Scholarship (LEG ITS), 2018 | Utrecht University, Netherlands

The LEG International Talent Scholarship (LEG ITS) programme offers a number of highly talented prospective international students the opportunity to pursue a degree in one of the English taught Master’s programmes at the Utrecht University.

With this highly selective scholarship programme the Faculty wants to contribute and invest in talented international students who have shown the highest achievement in their career so far. This can be based on their academic quality and results from preceding education or from student’s societal engagement or career vision. Approximately 15 scholarships are awarded per year.

Utrecht University is a university in Utrecht, the Netherlands. It is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands. Established March 26, 1636, it had an enrollment of 30,449 students in 2012, and employed 5,295 faculty and staff.

Degree Level: Scholarships are available to pursue Master degree programme.

Country of Study: Netherlands

Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded to pursue a degree in one of the English taught Master’s programmes of the Graduate School of Law, Economics, and Governance.

Scholarship Benefits:

With the scholarship students will be able to cover the costs of the tuition fee and part of the living expenses.

  • For students who will have to pay the statutory tuition fee (mainly EU/EEA student): €5.000
  • For students who will have to pay the institutional tuition fee (most non-EU/EEA students): €17.500
  • In a 2-year’s Master’s programme, the scholarship will only be renewed for the second year if the student is making satisfactory progress towards the degree.
  • Student’s s should be aware that the grant is not a full scholarship, and that it may be necessary to find additional funding to be able to finance study and stay completely. Read more about the budget Utrecht University advises.

Number of Scholarships: Approximately 15 scholarships are awarded per year.

Eligibility:

Eligible candidates are selected for a scholarship on the basis of the following criteria:

  • The academic quality and results of the preceding education, as evidence, for example, by grades, test scores, publications, letters of recommendation;
  • The student’s career vision, promise in the proposed field of study;
  • The student’s societal engagement (e.g. extracurricular activities)
  • The quality and relevance of the motivation letter;
  • The quality of the application itself (completeness, accuracy, consistency)

In order to be awarded this scholarship student should:

  • Have a non-Dutch nationality;
  • Hold a non-Dutch secondary education degree;
  • Have been admitted to one of the Master’s programmes mentioned above;
  • Be able to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa if applicable;
  • Failure to meet one or more of these criteria automatically means the student is not eligible for this scholarship.

Eligible Nationalities: Students from non-Dutch nationality are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

Application Procedure:

Students who wish to be considered for the scholarship have to apply for admission to the programme before 1 February. There is no separate application for the LEG International Talent Scholarship. An application for a Utrecht Excellence Scholarship will be considered an application for a LEG International Talent Scholarship as well. If you don’t apply for a UES (e.g. because you are an EU/EEA student) you have to request in your motivation letter (which is a requested document for your application for admission, see ‘Admission and Application’ per programme) to be nominated for the scholarship. Applications arriving after the 1 February deadline will not be considered for a scholarship in the Master’s programme that starts the next academic year.

Federal Government Scholarship for International Students at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University | Netherland

About the Award: The Holland Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. This scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s at RSM.

Selection Criteria:

  • Prospective students for the IBA programme at RSM need to prove their excellence. Excellence in previous education is proven if the grade point average achieved at secondary school (measured to date) is at least the equivalent of the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale 1 – 10;
  • For prospective students who have also attended higher education after secondary education grades obtained in higher education will be considered as well. The RSM Scholarship Committee will decide on the local grade equivalents for the Dutch grade of 8.0 using (a.o.) the grade information included in the Nuffic country modules;
  • Only students who are not recipients of any other scholarships exceeding the amount € 5,000 in total in that same academic year can apply for the scholarship;
  • By accepting this scholarship you agree to assist the RSM Recruitment and Admissions Office in the role of an Ambassador with promotional and support activities for approximately 8 hours per month during the academic year;
  • By accepting this scholarship, you agree to start your visa procedure before 1 June 2018. RSM holds the right to cancel your scholarship if you have not started your visa procedure and holds the right to offer the scholarship to a student on the waiting list.

Eligibility: To be eligible, fulfill the following:

  • Your nationality is non-EEA;
  • You are a prospective student, starting your studies in the academic year 2018/2019;
  • You are applying for a full-time bachelor’s or master’s programme at RSM;
  • You meet the specific requirements of the programme you are applying for;
  • You do not have a degree from an educational institution in the Netherlands (excluding exchange programmes in the Netherlands).

In principle, a fair distribution of scholarships over the various programmes will take place. This principle may be deviated from and priority may be given to applicants for certain programmes. Additionally, the school may strive for a certain distribution over the continents.

Value of Scholarship: 

  • The scholarship amounts to € 5,000 for maximum 12 months, one academic year;
  • You will receive this only in the first year of your studies. This is not a full scholarship;
  • The amount will be transferred in two instalments (November 2017 and February 2018) after you have paid the full tuition fee amount.

How to Apply

The first step is to register for the IBA programme in Studielink.

Note that it is not possible to apply for a scholarship in Studielink! Once you have registered yourself, you will receive a link for online application form (OLAF). Please upload your application documents and a scholarship application letter (max. 1 A4 size page) in OLAF. The application letter should include the following information:

  • an explanation why you would need a scholarship, comprising a description of your current financial situation;
  • an explanation why you would deserve a scholarship, comprising a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits;
  • clear financial plan of how you are going to finance year 2 and 3 of the IBA programme;
  • a signed statement indicating that other scholarships awarded do not exceed the amount of € 5,000 in total;
  • if applicable: certified copies of other scholarships granted.

Non-EU Students’ Scholarships, 2018 | University of Groningen, Netherlands

The University of Groningen is offering USP Scholarships for Non-EU students. These scholarships will be awarded to students applying for the BA/BSc Liberal Arts and Sciences programme at the Faculty University College Groningen.

UCG aims to reward students with great ambition, but who also have a great passion for social engagement and who are determined to make a positive impact during their studies at UCG.

The University of Groningen is a public research university in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. The university was founded in 1614 and is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands as well as one of its largest.

Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing BA/BSC programme.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Scholarship Award: The USP Scholarship is a grant towards study and living costs and the value of the USP scholarship is €12,100.

Eligibility: The USP scholarship is intended for students with an excellent academic profile, but who require financial assistance to study. Evidence of social engagement and extracurricular activities will support your request for funding.

How to Apply:

  1. Submit a letter of motivation to explain why you believe you should be considered for a scholarship. This should:
  • Be a maximum of 500 words in a Word document
  • Explain why you believe you deserve a scholarship and why you need financial assistance for your studies (this is not why you want to apply for the Liberal Arts and Sciences degree as you will have already explained this in your application).
  • Explain your experiences with social engagement and extracurricular events. Explain how you want to contribute to society in the future, what issues are important to you and why it is important for you to be aware of the USP scholarship. Also explain your ambitions and how you would like to achieve these ambitions and goals during your studies at UCG.
  • Be emailed to newstudents.ucg-at-rug.nl no later than 1 February 2018- the email title must be: ‘Letter of Motivation – USP Scholarship’.
  • In order to be eligible for this scholarship you must complete your application in OAS before 1 February 2018 as well.
  1. An assessment and proving us with proof of your financial need for funding is part of the selection procedure. The final funding decision will be communicated to you by the UCG Admission & Enrolment Coordinator.

AMC Scholarship for Non-EU International Students, 2018 | University of Amsterdem, Netherlands

Located in Amsterdam, Netherlands the University of Amsterdam (Universiteit van Amsterdam) is a top public University founded in 1632. The Amsterdam Medical center at the University is offering the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS), a scholarship for outstanding non-EU/EEA students who have been admitted to one of the (Master’s) programs of the Faculty of Medicine. The AMS is highly selective: only applicants with excellent study results and motivation will be considered for the scholarship. The scholarship is funded by the Universiteit van Amsterdam.

Benefits

  • Please note that the scholarship cannot be used as a (partial) tuition waiver.
  • The applicant must still pay the full amount of tuition.
  • The scholarship consists of € 6,000 – € 9,000 – € 12,000 or a proportional amount if the student starts in February.

Selection criteria

As we have a limited number of scholarships, only the most eligible candidates are selected for a scholarship on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Their academic excellence and promise in the proposed field, as evidenced by their academic records, letters of recommendation, written work and/or publications;
  • The quality of their letter of motivation.
  • Have a TOEFL (internet-based) overall score of 100 (with a minimum score of 22 in each of the different components), or an IELTS (academic) overall score of 7.0 (with at least 7.0 in each of the four components), or are you an English native speaker and/or was the diploma that qualifies you to enter higher education completely taught in English.
Only students who have been admitted to the Master’s program Medical Informatics or the program Medicine of the AMC UVA can be awarded a scholarship. Selection will take place in January/|February for the Master’s Medical Informatics. Applicants will be notified before April 15.

Conditions

Amsterdam Merit Scholarships are only awarded to applicants who have been admitted to one of the (Master’s) programs of the AMC UVA. A scholarship granted for a specific academic year cannot be transferred to another academic year. Students who have been granted an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship are required to assent to the conditions applying to the scholarship in writing before the scholarship will be remitted.
A scholarship will only be extended to the second year of study if the applicant has successfully completed 80% or more of the maximum number of credits in the first year of study.

When to apply?

Applications for an AMS scholarship for the Master’s program Medical Informatics should be submitted before, applications for the Medicine program should be submitted before January 15th.

Cosmopolis Advanced Scholarship Program for International Students, 2018 | Leiden University, Netherlands

About: The Leiden University was founded in 1575 and is one of Europe’s leading international research universities. It has seven faculties in the arts, sciences and social sciences spread over locations in Leiden and The Hague. The University has over 6,500 staff members and 26,900 students. Scholarship Description: The Institute for History is inviting applications for new research program: Cosmopolis Advanced, an initiative of the Institute for History at Leiden University (LU) in partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta.

It offers a unique opening for advanced international students who aim for a Leiden PhD degree in the fields of Colonial & Global History or Archival & Postcolonial Studies.

Degree Level: Scholarships are available to pursue MA/PhD programme.

Country of Study: Netherland

Available Subject: Cosmopolis Advanced offers scholarships to graduate students from Indonesia and other countries at both the MA (18 months; 90 ecs) and the PhD (42 months; 210 ecs) level.

Scholarship Benefits: Throughout the program, Cosmopolis Advanced will actively recruit at least 10 students for the MA program based on a so-called Van Leur Scholarship (funded by Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, OC&W). The latter is specifically meant to stimulate research into the still most neglected VOC archives and the centuries’ old shared heritage it represents. After their selection by the scholarship committee, students will receive a scholarship for 18 months. For the Van Leur Scholarship, Leiden University waives the lion share (€ 22.000) of the regular tuition fee of € 25.000 (for 18 months). After the successful completion of the pilot-study, the Indonesian students compete for 5 Ph.D. positions (funded by UGM Indonesia). Students working on the VOC compete for 2 PhD-positions (funded by OC&W). Other students will compete for PhD-positions on the basis of external funding. For PhD-fellows, Leiden University will provide office space and the usual research facilities. In Indonesia, office space and research facilities will be provided by the Indonesian partners. A scholarship committee with representatives from both partners is responsible for the selection process. LU and UGM are responsible for the practical organization of the selection process of the Van Leur and UGM scholarships respectively. The committee will take decisions on the basis of the recommendations of LU (for Van Leur Scholarships) and UGM (for UGM scholarships). After selection, the selected students become regular MA and PhD-students at LU and are subject to the usual regulations regarding the program in which they are enrolled.

Number of Scholarships: 5 scholarships are available for the current round (for students starting in the summer of 2018). Another call for 5 scholarships will be issued for starting in 2019.

Eligibility: The program intends to attract the most talented international students at the postmaster level. Eligible candidates should be able to demonstrate:

(a) Excellence in archival/historical research, as evidenced by a master degree in history that includes a substantial research thesis of 30 ECTS or its equivalent. Candidates with an MA-degree in a language other than English must have certified proficiency at a minimal degree of 7.0 IELTS/ 100 TOEFL.

(b) Sufficient financial support for all relevant costs (including for living and accommodation) either through the Cosmopolis scholarship program or private or external funding.

Eligible Nationalities: International applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship program.

Application Procedure: Applications must reach to LU or UGM no later than 1st December, 2017, and must include the following:
